About Pia

Pia was born in Vina del Mar, Chile. She grew up in a wonderful and loving family.

Although art wasn't initially a focus in her life, Pia pursued a degree in Chemistry after completing her schooling. She spent a few years working in her field until an opportunity arose for her to embark on a new adventure in Canada.

In 1992, Pia arrived in Vancouver, captivated by the city's charm, and decided to make it her home.

It was during this time of exploration that a friend encouraged her to discover her passion. On her birthday, Pia's friend gifted her with paint, canvas, and brushes, sparking a newfound love for painting.

Several years later she met her husband Gary, who supported her artistic pursuits.

While in Vancouver she studied with a painting teacher by the name of Jeanne Krabbendam who encouraged her to continue to pursue her passion for painting.

In 2007 Pia and her husband moved to Kelowna where she resides until today.

She found an amazing teacher by the name of Gene Prokop. He was the one who introduced her to the medium of oil painting and helped her to lay down a solid foundation for her art.

She met Kristy Gordon, another accomplished painter and teacher who taught her advanced techniques for portraiture which took her art to another level.

While in Kelowna she welcomed the birth of her son Andreas. Balancing motherhood with her artistic endeavors, Pia remained dedicated to her art, continually seeking inspiration, and refining her techniques.

Influenced by masters such as John Singer Sargent, Joaquin Sorolla y Bastida, and Anders Zorn. She was also inspired by contemporary painters like Richard Schmid, Susan Lyon, Scott Burdick, and Mark Carder. Pia's art reflects a blend of tradition and innovation.

She invites you to experience the essence of her art and witness the world as she sees it, in colours, emotion and boundless creativity. Thank you for being a part of my journey.
